The joint venture is expected to start production of its first electric vehicle in 2026. And after the North America region, the second market will be Japan, which will be followed by a launch in Europe.
Sony Honda Mobility has stated that the vehicle does not yet have a name. The JV has also asserted that the use of subscription services will increase the value of the vehicle.
In addition, there have been reports that the car’s entertainment system may incorporate a fully functional PlayStation 5.
In the joint venture with Sony, Honda will bring its engineering prowess and knowledge of car manufacturing. It is not yet known who will be in charge of providing after-sales support.
Based on the SHM-publicised information about the EV, the JV will start taking pre-orders in the first half of 2025.
